Autism Impact Award
The International Center for Research and Education recently held an awards ceremony at the Florida Aquarium, naming outstanding autism resource providers in the area.  Sydney's School was one of two providers awarded an Autism Impact Award for their excelled excellence, outstanding contributions and overall impact on the Tampa Bay Area's autism community.  Kathy Swenson was present at the cocktail gala on April 15, 2010 to accept the award on behalf of Sydney's School.  Everyone should be proud to be a part of our wonderful school and to support such a great cause.

Florida's Window of Opportunity Act
Florida's Window of Opportunity Act requires insurance companies to help pay for ABA therapy.  Please visit www.floir.com for more information.

Computers Needed
Sydney's School for Autism would like to updated their computers in the classrooms.  Many of the computers are old and do not support today's technology.  We would also like to add additional computers for the children.  If you or your company are updating your computers please consider donating them to Sydney's School.  All donations are tax deductable.

 School Hours
Sydney's School now runs year round, from 8:30 AM to 2:30 PM daily*.  The 2009/2010 school year ends August 6, 2010.  This includes three 2-week summer sessions.

We can arrange additional after-school therapy upon request.

 Now Offering Transitional Kindergarten and First Grade Classes
The Transitional Kindergarten Program is a full day, five day a week program for children who are not quite ready for kindergarten. The First Grade is also a full-time program. Both programs are inclusion setting classrooms designed to allow your child more time to prepare for elementary, as they increase academic skills, self confidence and ease in social relations.

Sydney's is now providing after-school 1:1 ABA therapy. Each child's program is created and monitored by Jennifer Rava, M.S., BCBA.

School Director
Job Description: Responsible for all operational areas at Sydney’s School for Autism.  The School Director reports to the Board of Directors and works with the board to provide students a high quality classroom experience in a safe and secure environment.  The Director will be responsible for staying within budgetary constraints, and ensuring all financial obligations are met in a timely manner.  Responsibilities include all human resource (hiring/firing, payroll, worker’s compensation issues, etc.) functions.  The Director will oversee contracting between the school and parents, meet with parents as required, and be actively involved in fund raising activities.  This individual will be the primary liaison between the school and all other organizations, businesses.  The Director will also be the primary contact for student transition to other area schools.
Qualifications – A four year degree in Education or Special Education from an accredited college or university is required.  VPK Administrator credentials a must.  Favorable background check required.
