Helpful tips for a safe and enjoyable Halloween

Halloween is probably one of the most eagerly anticipated holidays by children. However, for the child on the autism spectrum, the Halloween experience of going to parties and trick-or-treating can be emotionally, physically and mentally over-stimulating, causing stress for the child and family members.

The Autism Society of America, dedicated to increasing public awareness about autism and addressing the issues faced by families touched by the condition, has prepared a special web page with helpful tips to make Halloween safe and enjoyable.

 

Sydney's School Receives 2008 Outback Steakhouse Pro-Am Proceeds Donation

On September, 17, 2008, Outback Steakhouse presented an $80,000 check to Sydney's School for Autism. The check, presented at an award presentation ceremony at Sydney's School.

Sydney's Mingle with the Angels a Success

On  March 2, 2008, Sydney's School for Autism sponsored its Third Annual “Mingle with the Angels” Silent and Live Auction at the magnificent home of Mark and Christel Yaffe, in Avila, Tampa, Florida. This event benefited Sydney's School for Autism and included an awards presentation to "13 Ugly Men" and Tampa Bay Bucaneer Derrick Brooks.

Sydney's Now Offering a Transitional Kindergarten Class

The Transitional Kindergarten Program is a full day, five day a week program for children who are not quite ready for kindergarten. This program is designed to allow your child more time to prepare for elementary, as they increase academic skills, self confidence and ease in social relations.
